Fine facsimile edition of the first work published in Antarctica, during the British Antarctic Expedition of 1907-1909, Shackleton’s first as a leader, during which his party were the first to attain the Magnetic South Pole and came within 90 miles of the pole itself. This facsimile was made from the \”Julienne Soup’ copy held by the Alexander Turnbull Library. The original book was published and printed at the winter quarters by the Expedition team and it was illustrated with lithographs and etchings by George Marston with support from many of the team.

Limited edition of 375 numbered copies with 20 roman numeral copies.
This is a superb production and includes a leather wood bound book and a wooden box, with attention given to reproducing accurately the colour of the plate printed in brown, the plate impressions of the etchings and the mounted plates as in the original.With coloured title, plain and tinted plates, , entirely uncut in facsimile packing-case boards stencilled \”U L I E N N E S O U P\” in meticulous facsimile of the original, blind-stamped leather backstrip, in the style of the original, enclosed in the original hand-made suede-lined plywood box, leather titling pieces on the lid. \”
